Barbara Fischkin

Barbara Fischkin has been a journalist since 1975, covering stories in the United States, Latin America, Europe, and Asia and publishing in a wide variety of newspapers and magazines, including The New Yorker, the New York Times, WigWag, the International Herald Tribune, the Boston Globe, the Boston Herald, Ms Magazine, and Mademoiselle. She is a member of PEN and co-chairs the PEN Writers Roundtable Committee. As an educator, she has taught at New York University and at Adelphi University, where she created, directed, and taught in a one-woman Journalism program and revived a formerly censored student newspaper. She has also presented at two Poynter Institute Writers’ Workshops and for the PEN Readers and Writers Program.

She is the author of Muddy Cup: A Dominican Family Comes of Age in a New America (Scribner), which won a Livingston Award for International Reporting. She is also the author of Exclusive: Reporters in Love... and War (Delta) and her most recent book, Confidential Sources (Delta).
